Aminé Tours Local Portland, OR Public Schools in Support of Tech Careers and
Building Generational Wealth
Recording artist partners with Treehouse to promote high-paying careers in technology
PORTLAND, Ore., September 24, 2019 — Recording artist and Portland local Aminé
will tour four Portland public schools on Friday, September 27 to deliver keynote
speeches to assembled students, ages 14-18. His keynote and interactions with
students will focus on practical ways to help students grow, prosper, and create
generational wealth in communities of color.
He will be joined by Ryan Carson, the founder and CEO of Treehouse .
Aminé was moved to act following the death of Nipsey Hussle, a Los Angeles organizer
and recording artist, and witnessing first-hand the gentrification that is displacing
communities of color in Portland.
“It was important for me to come home to Portland and try to offer kids real solutions
and avenues forward,” says Aminé. “Working with Treehouse and the Boys & Girls Club
provides the perfect platform for these kids to thrive and hopefully end up with
long-term, well-paying jobs in my home community”
This event is part of “ Project: Unlock the American Dream ,” a campaign to train and
place 100,000 apprentices from diverse backgrounds in high-paying careers across the
country. The campaign is a partnership between Treehouse, AnitaB , and the Boys &
Girls Club of America . “Project: Unlock the American Dream” will empower families
across the United States to raise their incomes by $40,000+ annually, secure health
care for individuals and their families, and create a quarter of a trillion dollars of wealth
for hard-working Americans, their children, their grandchildren and generations to come
— all with zero student debt.
“I’m proud to partner with Aminé to help spread the important message of building
generational wealth. We’re trying to have a massive impact — to create hundreds of
billions of dollars of wealth in communities of color — and we’re already seeing results,”
said Ryan Carson, Founder and CEO of Treehouse. “Students in the Treehouse
Apprenticeship program are, on average, tripling their incomes and unlocking high
quality healthcare for themselves and their families. All with zero student debt. This
leads to better investment in wealth-building through 401k programs, home buying, and
more. I couldn’t be more excited that Aminé signed on to help empower 100,000
families across America to make lasting change.”
To celebrate the partnership, Treehouse will also create Techdegreescholarships for 25
students to study in-demand programming languages and design courses. The
Techdegree is a fully online program that allows individuals to complete coursework on
their own time, and in a location that is convenient for them. Techdegree coursework is
available for several Engineering and Design team roles, including Full Stack
Treehouse Apprenticeship program is built off the Techdegree learning platform.
Ryan Carson will be available for interviews and questions before and after the day’s
