2020 is chock-full of celebratory Air Max 90 releases in what is shaping up to be a big year for the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. Not only have we seen the expected barrage of colorways, but the silhouette has been redesigned to something more in-line with the original. We’ve also had a trio of atmos-inspired Duck Camo drops, some obscure OG ree-releases, and confirmation of the OG Infrared’s return later this year. Now you can add one more banger to the list — the return of Dave Ortiz’s DQM x Nike Air Max 90 “Bacon“, a pair that first released back in 2004.
Dave’s Quality Meat (DQM) was that far ahead of its time. Its Butcher-themed aesthetic from wall to wall included apparel ranging from meathooks and other items stored inside refrigerator displays made DQM such a standout in the New York sneaker scene, that Nike decided to link up with the retailer for a special-edition Air Max 90. The store’s theme carried over through a meaty rendition of the Air Max classic, from fatty beiges to tender reds and pinks and well-done browns. The use of premium leathers and suedes were a nod to the store’s attention to detail — even though the collaboration is said to have only taken a day to put together.
Originally rumored to release for Air Max Day celebrations back in March 2020, further information provided by sneaker sleuth @PYLeaks now has the pair pegged for the annual celebration in 2021. As always, keep your eyes glued to our Twitter feed for further updates, including first looks and a list of retailers who’ll be stocking to drop.

Update 03.04.21 // Nike has confirmed an Air Max Day return for the Air Max 90 “Bacon”. The Swoosh has taken to SNKRS to unveil the special-edition reissue with a bevy of butcher-themed shots, including streaky bacon laces across a waxed paper backdrop to — dare I say it — ham up the aesthetic. Take a look at the unveiling shots here below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for a comprehensive store list for the drop as w3e edge closer to its release.
If you are planning on picking up a pair on the day, make sure you head to our dedicated Nike Release Dates Calendar to set yourself a reminder for the drop.
