It’s always a natural fit for Nike SB to pay tribute to Hawaii. The home of surfing, which ultimately lead to the birth of skateboarding, has seen a handful of inspired colorways over the years, most notably on 2004’s “Aloha” collaboration with Kicks Hawaii. For 2021, we see a more literal approach, with this Nike SB Dunk High “Hawaii” donning floral duds and natural fibers.
First looks at the pair provided by @yankeekicks show a printed textile construction reminiscent of 1960s Hawaii shirts in hues of green, sandy yellow, and peach. The patterns engulf the entirety of the upper, enabling the hemp-like textile Checks and tongues to pop. In fact, the fabrication is eerily similar to the aforementioned Aloha Dunk Low — perhaps a cheeky nod to the preceding collaboration. Liners, laces, and outsoles also arrive in a washed sand hue, while its midsoles revert to a classic white finish. Completing the design is a bright orange tongue tag, perhaps an indication of an Orange Label status.
Update 04.02.21 // Further images of the Nike SB Dunk High “Hawaii” provided by @yankeekicks show a tear-away upper with underlays of vibrant orange floral print, and weed-inspired ganja suede overlays — the latter hinting at a possible 4/20 release. Until further details emerge, take a look through the gallery just below, and make sure you’re tuned into our official Twitter account for further updates.
In other SB Dunk news, there’s a “Chlorophyll” colorway coming this Christmas!
