“Interested in Black feminist perspectives on abolition? Wanting to learn about abolition with your community? Join Imagine Black for our “Are Prisons Obsolete?” (by Angela Y. Davis) virtual book club led by artist, organizer, and doctoral student, Ebony Oldham (@ebonyoldham)

Sessions will be on April 11, 18, and 25 on Sundays from 1 – 3 pm and registration includes all three sessions! The first meeting will cover chapters 1 + 2 of the book and a syllabus outlining an overview and suggested supplemental reading will be available on April 5!

Link in our bio for a free digital copy of the book and to register. There are only 15 spots and registration closes April 9! This space is prioritizing Black and Indigenous participants. Captioning provided and the sessions will be in English.

About Ebony (they/them) — Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Ebony was a founding member and core organizer for Black Lives Matter Portland chapter, All-African People’s Revolutionary Party Portland chapter, and a member of the Global BLM Network strategy table.

Beyond their ties to community and scholarship, Ebony experiments with fashion and interior design, enjoys watermelon, and most things Black feminists and witchy.”
