Online radio station NTS Radio is looking for new resident DJs to expand its roster. The independent station posted a call-out today, 1 June, encouraging artists and DJs to apply.

The renowned station isn’t just looking for any old resident, though. “We’re looking for radio personalities and genre specialists”, reads the ad on social media. Specifically, NTS is interested in experts of alte, asakaa, jazz fusion, two-step soul, 20s to 70s era blues, outsider country, highlife, min’yo, sanjo, nanyin, metal, classical, gnawa, amapiano, lovers rock, dub and reggae.

NTS Radio’s genre requirements may seem unconventional, but the station specialises in showcasing alternative music. Browse through the music discovery platform’s collection of shows, and you’re sure to find styles of music you’ve never come across before.

Those looking to submit a pitch can do so on NTS Radio’s site. You’ll need to include the titled of the proposed show, a description of the show, and include audio links of demo shows. You’ll also need to enter your name, email and social media links.

NTS celebrated its 10th birthday in April 2021, with Theo Parrish, Dopplereffekt, My Bloody Valentine and Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, performing guest sets. NTS is an abbreviation for Nuts To Soup, referencing an episode of The Simpsons. When asked about the name in a 2019 interview with Hypebeast, NTS founder Femi Adeyemi said: “I could really get into a deep philosophical reason why we chose the name, and there is one, trust me.”
