MusicPortland is a grassroots trade organization and advocacy group whose mission is to unite, defend, and amplify the greater Portland independent music scene.
About the Organization
MusicPortland is a grassroots trade organization and advocacy group whose mission is to unite, defend, and amplify the greater Portland independent music scene. By standing together as a music community, musicians, venues, manufacturers, retailers, and fans can have a huge impact. Our coalition includes many respected leaders of Portland music.
In 2015, a group of local music community leaders started a conversation. Our growing city was making it harder and harder to make music, produce music, and support music. Through researching the successes and failures of other cities and recognizing our own unique Portland culture, a vision for MusicPortland emerged. Everyone was committed to a simple idea: Make Portland a better place to make or support the making of music.
MusicPortland seeks to support and grow our uniquely diverse and independent scene by bringing us together to collectively sustain and grow our local treasure.
With incorporation in 2017 as a 501(c)6 Industry Association, the conversation and vision for MusicPortland is still developing and needs your voice as a music community member. We want to hear from all business sectors, musical genres, and stakeholders to inform how this representative organization evolves.
